A circular saw is an electric tool for fast sawing of a workpiece.
This type of saw is used for cutting wood products, cutting grooves or folds.
Such a saw can also handle other materials, such as metal or plastic.
The principle of operation of the device
The circular saw has a fairly simple design, which makes it reliable and economical.
The cutting disc is closed from above by a fixed safety casing, and from below by a movable spring–loaded sector, which hides the disc until the saw comes into contact with the sawed workpiece.
The product also has a special safety device – a sliding clutch.
It is triggered when the disk may jam in the workpiece.
This often happens for gambling beginners.
In this case, the disc stops rotating and the engine continues to run.
And the best part is that it does not burn out and does not lead to unplanned expenses.
The main elements of a circular saw
- An electric motor.
- Protective cover.
- A platform with a guide ruler.
- The gearbox housing.
- Disk.
Saw blades
There are a huge number of types of saw discs.
Each of them has its own purpose.
However, everything can be divided into 2 types:
- Carbide;
- Monolithic.
Carbide discs are more reliable than monolithic ones.
They are made of durable steel and have a number of advantages:
- there is no need to perform tooth separation on the disk;
- high reliability;
- endurance;
- you can cut a variety of materials;
- high-speed operation.
As for the monolithic ones, they are made of solid metal material.
They have two configurations:
- Discs with sharp teeth for finishing and cross-cutting of any type of wood;
- Discs with curved teeth are only suitable for working with soft woods.
Such discs are quickly blunted.
Operating modes
The saw has only two main modes of operation:
- Eruption;
- Incision.
The eruption mode occurs due to the insertion of the disc into the edge of the material.
In this case, the protective cover tilts back, and after work returns to its original place.
In the cut-in mode of operation of the saw, the disc is inserted into the material from above.
