Geometric parameters of disc cutting cutters

Disc cutting cutters are cutting tools used to form grooves and slots, as well as to cut products made of steels and alloys.

Disc cutting cutters are a cutting tool used for forming grooves and slots, as well as cutting products made of steels and alloys.

According to the structure of the cutting (working) surface, there are three types of disc cutting cutters: grooved — teeth are available only on the side surface — are used to form grooves; double—sided – teeth are available on the side surface and on one of the ends; three-sided - teeth are available on all three surfaces of the tool.

According to the size of the teeth, disc cutting cutters are divided into 3 types: with small teeth – designed for processing thin products, for forming shallow slots; with medium teeth — have the same purpose; with large teeth — for forming deep and narrow grooves.

Basic geometric parameters of disc cutting cutters Disc cutters of the HSS DMo5 type These cutters, made of high-strength steel containing 5% molybdenum, are designed to work with metals with a temporary fracture resistance index of 500,800 N/mm2.

The diameter range of this type of milling cutter is quite wide – from 160 mm to 620 mm.

The thickness of the disc ranges from 1 to 6 mm.

The nomenclature designation of the cutting edge shape is A, AW, C, BR, B, BW.

Disc cutters of the HSS Co 5 type Cutters of this type made of high-strength steel containing 5% cobalt are designed to work with alloys with a temporary fracture resistance index above 800 N/mm2.

They are used for cutting small diameter products.

Disc cutters of the DIN 1837 A 1838 B BW type are designed to form recesses in products made of steel and other metals.

They are produced in diameters from 30 to 315 mm.

The thickness of the disc ranges from 0.3 mm to 0.6 cm.

The nomenclature shape of the cutting edge is A, B, BW.

Cutters for forming slots in screw heads are cutters for fine work with the shape of the cutting edge A.

They are produced in diameters of 80, 100 and 125 mm and a disc thickness of 0.7 to 2 mm.

They are also suitable for working with precious stones and metals.
